The lighthouse

This lighthouse also appears on the cover of the book Lonely by Boudewijn Büch. The first lighthouse was built in 1850. It was destroyed on September 23, 1877 by the most powerful hurricane to ever hit the Leeward Islands. Fortunately, we are outside the hurricane zone and they usually pass us by. Due to the importance of the lighthouse, a new one was immediately built. The lighthouse, which is still in use, is located slightly more in the center of the island. From the top of the lighthouse you have a beautiful view of the island and the surrounding waters. Remains of boats that were shipwrecked on the north side can be found on the north side and show how important the lighthouse is.
