1. What is the best time to visit Curaçao?

Throughout the year, Curaçao enjoys a pleasant climate, but the dry season from January to May is often considered the best time to visit.

2. What language is spoken in Curaçao?
The official languages are Papiamento, Dutch and English. Most people also speak good English.
3. What are some popular beaches in Curaçao?

Popular beaches include Mambo Beach, Jan Thiel, Cas Abao, Playa Porto Mari, Grote Knip and Playa Lagun. Mambo Beach is less than a 10-minute drive from Toni Kunchi. Jan Thiel is also not far away. There is also a small public beach near Mambo Beach with a nice local dining option.
4. How can I exchange money in Curaçao?

You can exchange money at certain banks. The easiest and most convenient way is to withdraw cash with your bank card at various shops. There are also ATMs available. Dutch Guilder is not available in the Netherlands. The Dutch Guilder and the US Dollar are pegged. You get 1.75 Guilders for 1 Dollar.
5. Is Curaçao a safe destination?
Generally, Curaçao is a safe destination for tourists. You could compare it to Amsterdam or Rotterdam. It is advisable to avoid the secluded alleys at night.

At this moment, there are no mandatory vaccinations,
7. How many days do I need to explore Curaçao?

For a basic knowledge of the island, a stay of 7-9 days is reasonable, but longer is recommended to see most of the sights at your leisure. And since Curaçao has a rich culture and history, you actually never get tired of it here:)  
8. What local dishes should I try?

Try local dishes such as keshi yena, stoba, and pastechi. Pumpkin pancakes are my favorite.  If you are interested, read my blog Arpa di Pompuna. You will find my recipe for a healthier version of this delicious treat there.  There is also a variety of international cuisines available.
9. Can I rent cars in Curaçao?

Yes, car rental is available on the island and is often recommended to explore the island.
10. Are there opportunities for diving and snorkeling on Curaçao?

Yes, Curaçao is known for its beautiful diving and snorkeling spots. I was a diving instructor for 10 years and can provide you with all kinds of tips.
11. Are there mosquitoes in Curaçao and should I be concerned about malaria?

Mosquitoes are present, but the risk of malaria is minimal. It is advisable to use mosquito repellents.
12. What are some cultural festivals and events in Curaçao?

Some popular events include the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival, the Carnival Parade, the Curaçao Blues Festival, Seu, and the Curaçao International Film Festival. There are also markets throughout the year where you can buy local products. Events focused on the function of the various Landhuizen, such as tours, workshops, or tastings, are regularly organized at the Landhuizen.
13. Can I use credit cards in Curaçao?

Yes, most shops and restaurants accept credit cards, but it's always handy to have some cash on you.
14. Are there any national parks and nature reserves to visit?

Yes, Curaçao has several protected areas, such as Christoffelpark and Shete Boka National Park.
15. What is public transport like in Curaçao?

Public transportation on Curaçao is limited, so renting a car is usually recommended. I can advise you on this and possibly make a reservation.
16. Can I drink tap water?

Yes, the tap water is distilled from seawater and is perfectly drinkable.
17. What are the opening hours of shops and restaurants?

Most shops are open from Monday to Saturday non-stop from 9 am to 6 pm. Supermarkets have extended opening hours and are also open on Sundays.
18. Are there any religious customs or dress codes that I should be aware of?

Curaçao is diverse, but respect local customs and avoid entering religious sites in swimwear.
19. Can I buy local SIM cards for mobile communication?

Yes, you can buy local SIM cards from telecom providers and some supermarkets to facilitate mobile communication during your stay.
